A short trip can be easier with a small, repeatable packing list. Think in complete outfits and useful categories instead of packing for every possible version of the weather.

Start with the trip, not the suitcase

Check the forecast, your planned activities, and any specific dress requirements. Set out one outfit for each day, plus one adaptable layer. If an item only works with one unlikely scenario, consider whether it needs to come along.

Wear the bulkiest comfortable layer while travelling. Keep local weather and transit conditions in mind; comfort matters more than a perfect packing photo.

Pack by small, dependable groups

Keep toiletries, chargers, and travel documents in their own easy-to-find pouch or pocket. Bring the chargers you need, a small personal-care kit, and any medications or essentials you normally use. Check current airline rules for liquids and restricted items before you leave.

Put the first thing you will need at your destination near the top. That might be a light layer, a water bottle, or your accommodation details.

Leave room for the return journey

A little unused space makes unpacking easier and allows room for a book, a small purchase, or an extra layer. Before closing the bag, do one calm check for wallet, keys, identification, bookings, and anything you cannot replace easily.

The best list is one you can adapt. Save a basic version on your phone and change it for the actual trip rather than starting from scratch every time.
